There are a lot of ideal and idealized women on the internet....and this girl is mine.

Two hectic months later, I'm back ! Not sure for how long though. I haven't really any interesting internet pages to post. More stimulating : the Cheltenham Festival experience. Horse racing is my my DNA - my grandfather founded a racecourse, and my parents are part-time directors of the same. I think I placed my first bet on a horse when I was 7 years of age....and the beauty of the whole thing is that in pre-politically correct Ireland, the tote receiver happily took my 25 pence each way without batting an eyelid or a legal minimum age. So much for remembrances... Tuesday of last week, I left for England one day before my official appointments, flying Easyjet to Bristol instead of London, and went AWOL to the holy grail of nags, Cheltenham Racecourse. It was the first time ever I'd been there, and I promise I will never ever miss another one. I saw Catchit, Ruby Walsh, Dr Michael Smurfit, Andrea Wylie, Dawn Run's statue, Nick Doggert, Nina Carberry (my ideal woman) - the best experience of my entire life....at least with 1 week's hindsight...I admit it may pale as the year goes on!! And I didn't win a single bet, which I put down to overstudy - I had been reading the form on the same 6 races for 5 consecutive days, and didn't even get one. But boy was it worth it. If anyone reads this and falls in love, I solemnly promise that I will make arrangements to bring you with me next year, at my expense !! img026img011

One year ago, this was all that these lady jockeys were known for, but lately Kirsty Milczarek and Haley Turner have shown that their feminine touch on thoroughbred racehorses can be worth a lot of money to us punters. Kirsty just ran up her first hat-trick of winners on the same raceday at Kempton Park.

Now if I hadn't spent $14000 on booze, I'd have enough money to buy this painting. On the other hand, if Michael Flohr hadn't spent $14000 on booze, he might be ameniable to a discount so I could own this lovely work of art to show my barfly pals!!

Here's an artist I came across thanks to Faiena at dobedobedo! I think she's Georgian, based in Russia, but most of all, I think she's good, or at least interesting measured by my artistic ignorance

I am 3/4 of the way through this book - wow. Hard to say if I really like it or not. Ray is unbelievable, and worth reading for sure. If you think immortality is unachievable or undesirable, then read how healthly eating and living can get us to the stage where genetics and medicine can keep us enjoying life for ages and ages. On this site you can get an idea of what awaits you in the book!!
Les Gourmandises Restaurant, Cook Street, Cork. French Cuisine at its finest - L…

Lovely food, excellent presentation, I had a pleasant dining experience in Cork over the Christmas period, and very good value for money, considering the bill included a quality bottle of Vaqueryras 2004, one of my favourite little-known French wines from the Avignon Cotes du Rhone area. Another restaurant recommended for my friends. One quick tip : my steak, which I wanted saignant French style, or al sangue Italian style, arrived medium to well done Irish style. Given the chef's CV, I know he knows the difference, so it was my fault in not making it clear to the waitress how underdone I wanted my meat : so make sure you tell them exactly what you like!!!
